Police have charged a boy in relation to an assault in Worthing earlier this month.

Officers were called to the incident in Morrison’s Daily, Limbrick Corner, Worthing at around 4pm on 10 September.

It is reported three men entered the store and attacked a 19-year-old local man, who suffered minor injuries.

A 16-year-old boy from Worthing was arrested on 14 September and has now been charged with affray and threatening someone with a knife.

He has been released on conditional bail and is due to appear before Worthing Youth Court on 7 November.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on 11 September on suspicion of intent to cause grievous bodily harm and violent disorder.

Another boy, aged 15 from Durrington, was arrested on 13 September on suspicion of attempted wounding and violent disorder.

They have both been released on bail, under investigation.

Detective Inspector Gary Jacobs said:

“Violence and weapons, particularly involving young people, is extremely distressing for the families involved in the incident.

“The charges and arrests we have secured in relation to this assault shows we will not tolerate brazen attacks in our communities.

“Knife crime and anti-social behaviour both remain a priority for Sussex Police and we will ensure we tackle offenders and put them before the courts.”

Witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to contact police online or call 101 quoting serial 822 of 10/09.
