A man is facing charges in court today (Monday, 30) after allegedly spitting at police in Brighton and claiming to have coronavirus. Police said they received a report of criminal damage at a block of flats in Albion Street at around 5.50pm on Saturday (March, 28) While attending the incident, three officers were allegedly spat at by a man claiming to be infected with coronavirus. Officers said Peter Davy, 65, unemployed, of Albion Street, Brighton, was arrested at the scene and later charged. Charges include assaulting an emergency worker and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence. The defendant was remanded in custody to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court today.
