Weather experts believe a "severe" tornado struck the West Sussex town of Wick on Saturday evening (October 28).
The Tornado and Storm Research Organisation (TORRO) said on Sunday that its researchers had been made aware of "multiple reports" of wind damage in the town during the evening of Saturday 28th October 2023.
The organisation reported that its investigators Sarah Horton and Tony Gilbert carried out a detailed site Investigation on Sunday 29th October 2023 to assess the damage path and type of damage.
They believe the swirling winds touched the ground and properties between 6.50pm and 7.05pm on the Saturday evening.
On Sunday afternoon, the group stated that, while the full details were yet to be analysed, a tornado was confirmed with a provisional rating of T4.
This means the strongest winds were "severe", indicating wind speeds were likely to have peaked at between 115mph and 136mph.
This is how the street looked before the twister touched the rooftops.
