As of Wednesday (May, 27) at 6am, the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district:

Brighton and Hove: 421

East Sussex: 689

West Sussex: 1,316

Total: 2,426

Sports centre theft

A sports complex in Brighton, which is currently being used as a covid-19 testing facility, has been left damaged after thieves stole items including sports equipment and lighting.

Officers say the thefts occured at Withdean Sports Complex on May 19 at around 8:30pm.

Hate crime during the lockdown

Sussex Police said 'hate crime will not be tolerated' after a national rise in recorded incidents against the Chinese and Asian communities.

Superintendent Rachel Swinney, the Force Hate Crime lead, said:

“The impact of coronavirus is widespread and is affecting most of us in some way.

“I would like people to feel confident in reporting matters of hate crime to us. We are committed to treating victims with respect and empathy, incidents and any reports will be taken seriously."

Markets to reopen in Chichester

An outdoor food market is to reopen in Chichester, in line with new Government guidelines allowed outdoor markets and showrooms to reopen from June 1.

The Chichester Farmers Market will return on Friday (June 5) at the Cattle Market car park with strict social distancing measures in place.
