Tories Ousted In Eastbourne, Worthing, East Worthing, Shoreham, Chichester, Hastings & Rye, Crawley, East Grinstead, Uckfield, Horsham, Lewes, West Worthing

Eastbourne has elected a new Liberal Democrat MP, while Hastings & Rye, Worthing, Chichester, East Worthing and Shoreham have all lost their Tory-held seats. Results here.

In the early hours of Friday morning (July 5), Liberal Democrat candidate Josh Babarinde was declared the new member of parliament for Eastbourne after receiving 23,742 votes, a majority of 12,204.

Second place went to Conservative Party candidate Caroline Ansell, the seat’s incumbent, who secured 11,538 votes. 

Hastings & Rye has elected a new MP, with Labour taking the seat from the Conservatives.

Labour and Co-Operative Party candidate Helena Dollimore was elected as the new member of parliament for Hastings and Rye. She received 19,134 votes, a majority of 8,653.

Elsewhere, Conservative MP Sir Peter Bottomley has lost his seat to the Leader of Worthing Borough Council Beccy Copper. 

He had been the MP since 1997 when the constituency was first created.

Beccy Cooper became the first Labour councillor in Worthing for 40 years when she was elected in 2017.

In Chichester Gillian Keegan has lost the 100-year-old Tory-held seat to Liberal Democrat Jess Brown-Fuller, who won it by over 12,000 votes.

Shoreham and East Worthing have elected their first Labour MP. Tom Rutland won the seat by almost 10,000 votes more than the Tories. 

Conservative Tim Laughton, who announced he would be standing down earlier this year, had held the seat since 1997.

Labour has retained its seat for Brighton, Kemptown and Peacehaven.

Chris Ward took over from Lloyd Russell-Moyle, who had held the seat for seven years, after he was suspended at the end of May.

Mr Ward won by a majority of almost 10,000 votes.

The Greens have held their seat in Brighton Pavilion with Sian Berry winning the vote.

Over in Sussex Weald, Conservative MP Nus Ghani has held onto her seat, as has Conservative Alison Griffiths in Bognor and Littlehampton

Arundel & South Downs have held their conservative seat.

Bexhill & Battle have held their conservative seat.

Labour has taken the conservative's seat in Crawley.

East Grinstead and Uckfield have held their conservative seat.

Havant has held its conservative seat.

Lib Dems have taken the Conservative seat in Horsham.

Labour has held its seta in Hove & Portslade.

Lib Dems have taken the Conservative seat in Lewes.

Labour has taken the Conservative seat in West Worthing.
