Emergency services from West Sussex and Surrey were called to Horley yesterday (Tuesday) after lightning stuck a residential property.
An SFRS spokesperson said:
“We received a call yesterday afternoon around 4.50pm to a report of a fire on Campbell Grove, Horley.
“In total, ten pumps were sent alongside some specialist appliances with the first arriving at the scene around 5pm.
A fire had broken out in the roof of a domestic property before affecting another property. The fire caused approximately 101 to 200 sqm damage.
“The fire was tackled and crews began leaving the scene around 11.00pm, however some crews remained behind to continue damping down and monitoring for hot spots.”
No casualties were reported.
