Family of firefighter Anthony Knott 'completely heartbroken' after body found in river

The family of Anthony Knott, the firefighter who went missing in Lewes before Christmas, have said they are 'utterly devestated and completely heartbroken' after his body was found in the River Ouse. A passer-by reported the discovery to police by Denton Island in Newhaven just after 9.40am yesterday (Friday, 10). Officers believe the body is that of the 33-year-old, from Orpington in Kent, who was last seen in Lewes while out with colleagues on December 20. Anthony's family have now released a statement on Facebook, in which they thanked the people of Lewes for their support during the search for Anthony. The statement said: "We are utterly devastated and completely heartbroken. "Anthony’s story has reached out and touched the hearts of thousands of people. We would like to thank everyone for your incredible support, shares, posters, volunteers and donations. "The people of Lewes, we will be forever grateful for your support & understanding during our searches. "These three weeks have been so very hard for us all. "We now want to take some time as a family to grieve and as I am sure everyone will understand, to respect our privacy for this time."
