Fire Breaks Out Underneath Brighton Palace Pier

Emergency services attended Brighton Palace Pier once again yesterday (Monday, 29th) after a fire broke out in an encampment underneath the structure.

It happened just after 7.45pm with flames reaching over eight foot high, according to eye witnesses.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue attended the scene, saying the fire was already extinguished by the time they arrived.

People posting on a Brighton Facebook page said water had been thrown on the flames through planks from above the fire.

It's the second time in a three days that emergency services have attended a serious incident at the pier.

On Sunday (August 28th) two males jumped from the pier into the water, which was low tide at the time.

They were taken to hospital in a serious condition.
