Fire Officer To Embark On Gruelling Challenge For Charity

A Fire Safety Inspecting Officer from West Sussex is going the extra mile to thank the charity who recently supported him during his time of need.

Jack Portman is set to complete a 57km hike across the South Downs within 12 hours, to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Jack will complete the challenge on Saturday (7 September), starting at Eastbourne and eventually finishing at Hove Park.

With an elevation gain of 1,250m and a tight timeframe ahead, Jack has been in training, preparing for the arduous challenge.

Speaking of the challenge, Jack said:

“I have recently benefited from the outstanding support provided by The Fire Fighters Charity, and I really wanted to give back to show my appreciation for their incredible service.

“I know the timing is going to be tight, but that’s all part of the fun. My training is going well, and I am going to give it my all to finish the journey within 12 hours!”

You can visit Jack’s JustGiving page to donate.
