Firefighters in West Sussex have been dealing with flames that broke out in a vehicle in Henfield just before noon today (May 20).
Crews needed breathing apparatus among other equipment after a van caught light in Wheatsheaf Road.
Over an hour after arriving from Shoreham, Burgess Hill and Partridge Green, they were still appealing for people nearby to keep windows and doors closed.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said:
"Joint Fire Control received the 999 call at 11.50am this morning."
"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly brought the fire under control using one high pressure hose reel and a fog nail."
By 1.40pm, the flames were reported as out, but a damping down operation was continuing.
