Field Fires Erupt In At Least Two Sussex Locations

Five acres of a field just north of the A27 in Lancing have caught fire this afternoon (August 7).

At 2pm, firefighters said emergency crews from several stations including Littlehampton, Worthing and Chichester were on site to tackle the flames.

At the time, the public was asked to avoid the area around Hoe Court, east of Lancing Manor sports centre.

Firefighters in East Sussex also reported, a few minutes later, that flames had erupted in a field in Piddinghoe, off the C7 Lewes to Newhaven Road.

Three crews were on site as of 2.05pm, the service said.
