What appears to be the remnant of an illegal cannabis farm has been found fly-tipped in East Sussex.
Police from the Rural Crime Team said they discovered the waste dumped in the countryside near Polegate on Thursday afternoon.
Officers' images show dozens of black plastic bags and bamboo canes in a hedgerow next to a byway in Wilmington.
They added:
"Unlawful fly-tipping is another lesser-known but still damaging side effect of illegal substance production".
A Wealden District Council spokesperson said:
"We visited the site near Wilmington to inspect and assess within a couple of hours of the initial report, late afternoon on Thursday 15 July.
"Our waste clearance contractor Biffa were notified, and under our fly tip agreement they have two working days to clear it.
"Sussex Police have removed any bags suspected to contain cannabis.
"The only bags left are to the side of a byway and containing only soil.
"Therefore, they are not considered hazardous to motorists or the general public.
"Unfortunately there is no evidence to suggest where the material may have originated from."
