Gun possibly involved in 'mysterious incident' in East Grinstead

Officers are seeking out individuals involved in an incident reported to have taken place in East Grinstead last Tuesday (April, 21). Police said a caller contacted them just before 6pm about three young men near the parade of shops in Holtye Avenue. They were reportedly seen walking by a small white stationary car when one of them produced what is believed to be a long barrelled gun. Officers said the passenger of the vehicle got out and handed over what is thought to be a bag, before getting back into the car which then drove off. The three young men then reportedly ran off along Quarry Drive. There was no physical violence and no shots were fired, according to police. Investigator Lauren Chapman said: "We believe the three men had been seen just before this incident outside the Premier shop in Holtye Avenue Parade, by a woman wearing a striped white dress. "We are asking that woman, and anyone else who saw anything of this incident, to contact us. "We are also asking the occupants of the car, and the three men, to come forward so that we can check on their welfare." Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting serial 1161 of 22/04.
