Police have arrested a man in connection with an attack in a park in Hastings.
At 12.15pm on Wednesday (24 March) Sussex Police said they received a report of a man seen to be assaulting a woman in Alexandra Park.
Officers searched the area, but found neither the woman nor the man.
Police launched an investigation, which led to the victim and a number of witnesses coming forward.
As a result, officers arrested a 26 year-old man from St Leonards on suspicion of a public order offence.
At 4pm yesterday (March 25) he remained in custody while the investigation continued.
Hastings Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Aidan Cornwall added:
“We were able to deploy officers to the location within 10 minutes of receiving the report.
"Following excellent support from members of the public, officers were able to make a quick arrest.
“If anyone witnessed the assault or has any information to assist our investigation please make contact with us.”
