Hove, Eastbourne And Crawley Named Among Top-10 UK Area Worried About Scams

Hove, Crawley and Eastbourne have been named among the areas of the UK most worried about scams in a new study.

QR Code Generator investigated which areas of the UK are most worried about scams by looking at around 300 search terms relating to scams, including ‘reporting a phone scam’, ‘how to spot a scam email’, and ‘how to spot a sales scam’.  

The average number of Google searches each month for each search term was collected for 78 UK towns and cities with a population of at least 100,000.

They then found the most commonly used search terms and ranked each UK town and city depending on which had the highest number of monthly searches on average per 100,000 people.  

Hove – 73 average monthly searches per 100,000 people

Residents of Hove are the second most concerned about scams, with an average of 73 monthly searches per 100,000 people. 

The most popular scam-related keyword in Hove is 'How to report a scam email.' This keyword has a monthly average of 10 searches per 100,000 people.   

Eastbourne – 64 average monthly searches per 100,000 people

Eastbourne has the fifth-highest number of average monthly searches relating to scams, with an average of 64 per 100,000 people.  

The most popular scam-related keyword in Eastbourne is 'how to report a scam email.' This keyword has a monthly average of eight searches per 100,000 people.

Crawley — 57 average monthly searches per 100,000 people

Residents of Crawley are equal ninth most concerned about scams, with an average of 57 searches per 100,000 people. 

The most popular scam-related keyword in Crawley is ‘reporting a scam email’, with a monthly average of eight searches per 100,000 people.
