A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with flames that extensively damaged a property in Hove yesterday.
Emergency services responded to a fire at a home in Kelly Road at around 11.40am.
Multiple crews with six appliances tackled the fire, then some firefighters remained on site to cut away damaged portions of the building, and ensure that the fire had been fully put out.
Police have detained a 53-year-old man on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, and he remained in custody on Monday afternoon.
Officers added that no-one required hospital treatment after the incident.
They've issued an appeal for witnesses or people with information to come forward, by reporting either online, or calling 101 quoting serial 542 of 23/08.
