Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at an optometrists in Hove. About 10.20am on Wednesday 27 November, a man entered Taylor-West and Co in Church Road, Hove, armed with a pair of scissors and demanded cash from the till. After first trying to steal a member of staff’s mobile phone, he then took a small quantity of cash from the till before leaving and running along Church Road. The victim was not injured but was left very shaken by the ordeal. The robber is described as white, of skinny build, approximately 5’7” and aged in his mid to late twenties. He had short dark receding hair and was unshaven. He had black teeth and the top two were prominent and larger than normal. He was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up, dark jeans and black trainers. The man made reference to being homeless and apologised for what he was doing, but claimed he was desperate. A 28-year-old man was arrested the same day on suspicion of robbery. However, police have since eliminated him from the investigation. Anyone with any information about the incident is urged to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 431 of 27/11.
