It was always thought that Sussex's road transport users would see delays as a result of Storm Henk, and the prediction has come true.
This afternoon, traffic in northern parts of West Sussex has been disrupted by a tree falling across a busy single-carriageway road connecting Horsham to Guildford.
The A281 Guildford Road at Strood Green, north-west of Broadbridge Heath and Horsham was shut between the A29 Bognor Road and the Broadbridge Industrial Estate.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service had attended to make the road safe.
As of 3.20pm today, January 2nd, wind gust speeds had measured a maximum of 85 mph at Worthing Pier, with steady speeds peaking at 60 mph.
Meanwhile, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said this afternoon:
"With Storm Henk now sweeping through, we suggest you sit tight, stay safe, and wait it out."
