Officers say they were called to Brighton beach at 5am on Saturday and arrested a suspect.
31-year-old Aynul Hoque, of New England Road in Brighton, has been charged with rape and remanded in custody, according to police.
Police say he is due to appear before Brighton Magistrates' Court today (Monday)
