A teenage man died after the car he was driving went into a ditch in Pevensey late on Friday evening (5th April).

Sussex Police said a white Citroen C3 was travelling northbound when it went into a ditch in Wartling Road, Pevensey.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle – a 19-year-old man from Eastbourne – was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officers have been requesting anyone who may have seen the car in the area immediately before the collision to come forward.

They are also keen to hear from anyone who captured any relevant dash cam footage, or from people who may have stopped at the scene.

Information is welcomed at this email address: [email protected], quoting Op Alderney.

Family members of the man who died have been receiving support from specially trained officers, police added.

Wartling Road is a 4.5 mile stretch of rural highway across the Pevensey Levels, passing by the Herstmonceux Observatory.
