A Metropolitan Police officer will appear in court next month charged with the rape of a woman on Brighton beach in July of 2021.
Laurence Knight, 33, was not on duty at the time of the offence. He was arrested on July 28 - 11 days after the rape took place.
He'll appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on June 23 to face the charge.
Police say the victim will continue to receive support from specialist officers throughout the judicial process.
