Coastguard and Police teams were called into action following reports of a missing person on a ferry at Newhaven last night (Tuesday).
HM Coastguard confirmed a search took place involving the Coastguard helicopter and lifeboats from Newhaven at around 10:20pm.
A spokesperson said:
"Sussex Police and Border Force also attended. After a thorough search it was confirmed that the person was never on board."
