New App To Help Sussex Residents Prepare For The Future

New app designed to help residents lead a 'full and healthy life' in older age has been officially launched.

Residents are being encouraged to download the Life Transitions app to support them to prepare and plan for their future life including events such as retirement, moving home, changes in health and mobility, finding new roles and purpose, becoming a carer, or experiencing bereavement.

The new app, part of a pilot scheme supported by UK Research and Innovation funding as part of the Healthy Ageing Challenge, aims to help people think about what’s important to them, what resources they have, and what they will need to feel prepared for significant changes.

Mark Stainton, East Sussex County Council’s Director of Adult Social Care & Health, said:

“We can face some big challenges and changes as we age, and it can be difficult to know what we will need in the future to ensure a good quality of life in older age.

“This free app is a great tool to help us understand what changes we might face and how we can build the skills and resources to prepare for them.

“It’s never too early to start thinking about and planning for your future and I would encourage people to see how this app can help them.”

The Life Transitions app has been developed based on feedback from residents about the kind of help and support they might benefit from.

As part of the pilot project, East Sussex County Council has created the app and its content for residents of both East and West Sussex.

Volunteers have also been trained to offer one-to-one life transitions support to residents in Eastbourne, Hastings and surrounding areas of East Sussex, and the Littlehampton and Wick area of West Sussex.

For support with the app, information about volunteering or getting support from a volunteer email [email protected] or call 07724 287034.
