A new 'Hide & Sheep' Easter trail at Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens brings to life the much-loved character Shaun the Sheep.
It's been developed by Aardman, the creators of Wallace & Gromit and will be available to visit from March 25th until April 23rd..
Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the Grade I Listed woodland gardens as they follow the trail and discover markers along the way.
Using a bespoke app, Shaun will be revealed in augmented reality, hiding out in a farmyard scene and pose alongside him, capturing their day out to share with family and friends.
Only garden entry and a phone are needed to play, and Leonardslee members can join the event for free. Players can download the ‘Hide & Sheep’ app in advance from the Apple Store or Google Play Store. Markers are located throughout the gardens for guests to find, with each featuring a QR code that can be scanned in order to find Shaun through their phone lens.
Visitors can then take a series of photos with Shaun in a variety of fun animated poses. To finish the trail, players must complete their stamp collection, take photos and create an entertaining, shareable collage of their day with Shaun the Sheep.
"We will also be hosting model making workshops for families to create their own Shaun the Sheep," says Adam Streeter, estate general manager.
"It's a delightful day out for children to explore this lovely 240-acre estate and its plant collection and animal life, see the wallabies and deer and visit our famous Beyond the Doll's House exhibition.
"Hide and Sheep is a new addition to our year-round calendar of events, which also includes the hugely popular Leonardslee Illuminated light trail. We are always looking for new and exciting activities for families while also protecting the Grade I listed gardens for future generations, using augmented reality is a fun way to achieve this."
The ‘Hide & Sheep’ trail is from 25th March until 23rd April, and model making workshops on 2nd April. Due to limited phone service, guests are advised to download the app before visiting. Standard entrance fees to Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens apply.
