Two water refill stations in the shape of dolphins have arrived in Eastbourne and they are the first of their kind ever to be sold.
Made by Our Only World, based in Polzeath, Cornwall, they'll be installed in the town to add to the a network of around 70 refill stations. Having come from just down the road, they have a small carbon footprint and are eco-friendly since the plastic is made from repurposed discarded fishing net in Cornwall.
You can find them using the Refill App, which is free to download and use. Refill is a national network run by the charity City to Sea.
Plastic Free Eastbourne says one will be set up near the Tourist Information Centre and the other will be set up along “Spring Water Way,” which is the 16 kilometre-long string of refill stations all the way along the seafront, from Sovereign Harbour Retail Park to the East as far as the Birling Gap National Trust visitors centre to the West - it's the first NT property to host a refill station.
These new refill stations will be ready for the 'Eastbourne Spring Water Festival ~ Celebrating Water'. Others earmarked for other locations around town will be installed in due course.
The Aviva Community Fundraiser has reached its target of £1500 as a contribution to a Refill Station in Shinewater Park. The deadline has been extended, so you can still donate if you wish.
The Spring Water Festival starts next week on Friday 13th to Sunday, 22nd May.
There are many events happening for the festival, including a rock and blues concert with tickets available from onlineticketsller.com.
