Newhaven Craft Beer Festival Tickets 'Set To Sell Out'

The inaugural "Brewhaven", a Sussex Craft Beer Festival at Newhaven Fort on October 16, is on track to sell-out with hundreds of enthusiasts purchasing remaining tickets on sale.

That's according to Lewes District Council, which claims the team that brought the Sussex Gin & Fizz Festival to Lewes has been "thrilled" by the levels of interest in Brewhaven and the number of tickets sold since the online box office opened.

Handpicked breweries will showcase their beers and sell direct to those attending the festival, along with a host of local food producers serving their products.

Councillor James MacCleary, Deputy Leader of Lewes District Council and Newhaven councillor, said:

“Tickets are selling fast and while Newhaven Fort is the largest defensive military structure ever built in Sussex, an army of beer drinkers will soon fill it up.

“The day promises something for everyone with family friendly entertainment planned in the afternoon and a more full festival feel for adults during the evening.

“We have microbreweries springing up across our area and I am really keen to support our local brewers.

"I hope this will become an annual event that may even encourage someone to start up a brewing project down here on the coast!”

The Fort café will also be serving soft drinks, ice cream, snacks and sandwiches and younger visitors can also take advantage of the adventure playground.

Live music is set to be performed by day and night, with sea shanties said to be "expected" after sunset.

Councillor MacCleary added:

“With the English Channel on one side and the South Downs on the other, I defy anyone to suggest a better location to enjoy a beer festival.

"I’ve got no doubt that Brewhaven will be a huge success and cheers to that!”

Ticket numbers are limited to allow for a Covid safe event.

The council asks visitors to travel by public transport if possible, as there is limited parking at Newhaven Fort.

RDH Buses will be running a free shuttle bus between Newhaven Town Station and Newhaven Fort at regular intervals throughout the day and evening.

Brighton & Hove Bus Company run regular 12, 12A & 12X buses between Brighton and Eastbourne, stopping at Newhaven, and Compass Travel's 123 bus runs between Lewes and Newhaven during the daytime.

Newhaven Town Station can be easily reached by train from Brighton, Lewes, Eastbourne and Seaford.
