A statement today (August 13) by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service says it's believed an electrical fault started Saturday's large fire on an industrial estate in the town.
As crews with twelve engines and many other appliances tackled the flames, a large column of smoke became widely visible along the Sussex coast and inland.
The operation to put out the fire, in premises adjacent to Beach Road, took most of the day.
Investigators today said a "defective electrical appliance" is believed to have been the cause.
Firefighters added no members of the public were injured during the incident.
