Snow flurries and hail fell in Sussex this morning, turning into heavy snowfall in places during the early afternoon - ice is already forming and councils are warning residents to take care.

An Amber Cold Health Alert has been issued for the south east due to the cold temperatures expected over the next few days.
The cold weather is likely to impact those aged 65+ and other vulnerable groups, such as those sleeping rough or those with long-term health conditions.
The alert is currently in place from January 8 to 12 noon on January 12, but this will be reviewed daily, so check the forecast and national cold weather warnings
Cold weather can have a serious impact on health especially for vulnerable groups such as older people, families with young children, and those living with long-term illnesses.

Please look out for others and check on your elderly and vulnerable neighbours to see if they need help with getting food, medicine, or care during cold weather.
