There was a multi-agency response after a man was reported to have got into difficulty in the water near Brighton Palace Pier on Sunday (Sept 24).
Sorry, it doesn't look like there's any photos here just yet.Brighton, Newhaven and Shoreham RNLI lifeboats were launched at 8am on Sunday, as well as the coastguard rescue helicopter and coastguard fixed wing plane along with multiple coastguard rescue teams and Sussex police officers to carry out an extensive air, sea and land search.
After seven hours of searching offshore and along the shoreline from Hove Lawns to Brighton Marina, nothing was found.
The search was called off and the crews and teams were stood down.
The RNLI has reminded people to please respect the water. "If you see someone in trouble, call 999 and ask for the coastguard."
UPDATE:
The body of a 38-year-old man was found last night (September 24) washed up on the beach opposite Brighton's Odeon cinema.
