Police appealing for attempted rape victim in Brighton to come forward

Police are appealing for a woman who told staff at a pub in Brighton that a man had attempted to rape her to come forward. Officers said they attended the Crowns pub in Cranbourne Street at 1.25am on Saturday morning (November, 17), shortly after door staff reported that the distressed woman had approached them and informed them about the offence. However, she had left the area by the time officers arrived, according to the force. DS Jemma Paterson said: "We are keen to trace the woman so that one of our specialist trained officers can speak to her. "She may have been drinking in the pub earlier in the evening. "She is reported to have injuries to her face and neck and she may live in central Brighton. "We would also like to hear from anyone who may know the victim or have witnesses anything suspicious in the area around the time to come forward." Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 87 of 16/11.
