Haywards Heath Town Hall played host to a special visitor this week, as HRH Princess Anne paid a Royal visit to meet volunteers, staff, and representatives from organisations who responded to a 'Call to Arms' during the pandemic.
The Princess Royal, who was accompanied by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex, Sir Richard Kleinwort, was keen to meet those responsible for the 'Leave No One Behind' campaign and to hear about our plans for the future of the residents of the town and the surrounding villages.
As well as meeting statutory and voluntary organisations that worked on the response, the Princess Royal spoke to some of the volunteers themselves from Haywards Heath COVID19 Mutual Aid.
Cllr Alastair McPherson commented:
"The impact of the coronavirus has affected everyone in the Town, Country and indeed the World, so this partnership, developed in response to the pandemic, shows what can be achieved when the community comes together in times of need.
"It was such an honour to greet Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal and to introduce her to the people who were so selfless during lockdown."
