The annual 8K Undercliff Run is both a fundraising event for RISE, and a way for women and girls to 'come together, visibly, and stand against domestic abuse in Brighton and Hove'.
One in three women globally will experience domestic abuse and of those who have been in a relationship, almost one in four adolescent girls aged 15–19 have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from an intimate partner.
The Schools Shield provides an opportunity to talk about this issue in schools and gives girls an empowering opportunity to really do something about it. Every year the run raises around £25k for the vital work RISE does supporting those affected by domestic abuse in our area.
Schools, staff, student’s families and friends are also able to volunteer for the event, both on and before the day, and really become part of it with the RISE team. Volunteers can sign up HERE, identifying which school they are from in the last section to enable us to track and report on this.
Last year Roedean won the Shield – will they hold it again this year?
