Serious Crash Shuts A27 At Chichester As Firefighters Cut Person Free

The A27 is expected to be shut for a 'considerable' amount of time after a serious collision between an HGV and a car this morning (Friday).

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said a person has been released from the HGV using tools, and the two occupant of the other vehicle had self released before their arrival, at around 5.54am.

Crews from Chichester, Bognor, Havant, Hampshire and Cosham attended the scene.

The incident is thought to have happened Westbound, between Fishbourne and Warblington.

The road is now shut in both directions between Chichester at Fishbourne and Warblington for Emsworth.

SECAmb and Sussex Police are also at the scene.

At around 7am, officials said the road is expected to be closed for a 'considerable' amount of time.

RTC involves one HGV and one car.
Crews have released one person from the HGV using small tools. Driver of other vehicle self released prior to FRS attendance.
Crews are now working to contain a diesel leak using environmental packs.#A27 expected to remain closed for some time.
