Six Rescued From Brighton Fire On Bank Holiday Monday

Photos by Eddie Mitchell

One adult and five children were reportedly rescued from a house in Queensway last night (May 1).

East Sussex Fire & Rescue said they had received reports of the fire at around 9.40pm.

By the time they had arrived, one woman and five children had made their way to safety but were checked over by paramedics for smoke inhalation..

Four fire engines, the command unit and officers were sent to the scene and later an investigator ascertained the most likely cause to be electrical.

They told us:

"Crews used hose reel and breathing apparatus to put out the fire, a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots and a PPV fan to clear smoke."

Sorry, it doesn't look like there's any photos here just yet.
