An art gallery in Lewes is currently hosting works by three of the twentieth century's most renowned artists: Picasso, Matisse and Miró.
One of the town's independent art venues, the Star Brewery Gallery is currently partnering with Brighton's "Hidden Gallery" as it displays collections from the three creative pioneers who are among the most famous names in new artistic movements of the last century.
The pieces on exhibition are also available for purchase.
Gallery owner Neeta Pedersen said:
"No printmaker casts a greater shadow across Modern art than Picasso, and the works in this exhibition capture all the innovation, ambition and technical brilliance that define his career.
"He bent the rules of etching, lithography and linocut printmaking to his will, inventing new techniques and achieving startling results with every image."
Pablo Picasso (1881–1973), who was born in Spain but spent most of his life in France, developed a wide variety of ground-breaking styles and founded the Cubist movement.
Also in display in Lewes at the moment are some of Henri Matisse's "Cut-Outs".
Neeta added:
"These pieces, produced in the early 1950s, have been endlessly copied, re-interpreted, and reproduced without ever being bettered.
"They bear testament to his enduring genius and look equally stunning today in contemporary or traditional settings."
French artist Henri Matisse (1869–1954) was not only a painter, but also specialised in print-making and was a sculptor and draughtsman.
In his final years, when ill health prevented him from painting, he turned to the medium of cut paper collage.
Works in the exhibition by Miró have been described by the gallery owner as some of "the most beautiful and distinctive prints produced by any artist during the 20th century".
Joan Miró (1893–1983), who was born in Barcelona, is sometimes labelled as a surrealist, but with flexible boundaries while being contemptuous of conventional painting methods, which he sometimes saw as supporting overly established society.
The Star Brewery Gallery, which charges no admission fee, is open daily in Lewes's Castle Ditch Lane from 11am to 4pm, with this exhibition closing on Sunday April 14th.
