Two office buildings on the Manor Royal estate, between central Crawley and Gatwick Airport, are to be demolished to make way for warehouses.
An application from Promontoria Crawley Ltd, which involves Victory House and Vanguard House, on Churchill Court, was given the nod by Crawley Borough Council’s planning committee at a meeting on April 6th.
Neighbouring Valiant House will not be touched.
One of the new buildings will be for storage and distribution, while the other will be more flexible and will be able to include office space.
Ian Irvine (Lab, Broadfield) welcomed the news that the sites could bring more than 200 full-time jobs to the area.
Looking forward to the day the parking spaces and cycle racks were full, he added:
“I can only see this as a good thing for Crawley.”
Victory House and Vanguard House stand near the junction of Manor Royal and Gatwick Road and have been largely unused for some time.
Prior approval has already given to demolish them.
