Wastewater Treatment Work In Sussex To Benefit From Multi-Million Pound Investment

Wastewater treatment works at Handcross in West Sussex are set to make a difference in improving water quality leaving the site.

New pressurised multimedia tanks have been installed along with ferric dosing to improve water quality.

The cost of the scheme is £3m.

The work is being carried out by contractor GTb, a joint venture between Galliford Try Environment and Binnies UK Ltd.It is part of Southern Water’s wider £3bn spending on improving its environmental performance.

Lee Hooper Project Manager for Southern Water, said:

“We’re pleased that we have got this project finished in time for the New Year, all of the schemes will help our ongoing work to improve water quality.

"We’re looking forward to 2025 where we will look at further upgrades to sites across our region.”

Lee McGrattan, Project Manager for GTb, added:

“We’re delighted this project is now finished.

"We’re sorry for any disruption these works have caused but we’re looking forward to the benefits they will bring.”
