FURTHER UPDATE: Witness Appeal Following Serious Collision In Hooe

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision between a car and a flatbed van in Hooe, near Battle.

Officers were called to the B2095, near The Lamb pub, at about 3.05pm on Thursday (December 15).

Colleagues from both the fire and ambulance services also attended the scene to remove a seriously injured boy from one of the vehicles.

He has since been airlifted to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Officers are eager for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward and ask that any relevant information or dashcam footage is reported to Sussex Police.

UPDATE:

The 11-year-old boy who was seriously injured in a collision in Hooe has since sadly died as a result of his injuries on Saturday 17 December.

The boy has been named as Harry Dennis.

A 33-year-old man from Eastbourne has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody at this time and is awaiting interview.

In the meantime, police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Detective Sergeant Rob Baldwin, from the Serious Collision Investigations Unit, said:

“Our thoughts are with Harry’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“We are continuing to support them and keep them updated on the progress of the investigation.

“We are still appealing for any witnesses to the collision. If you saw what happened, or if you have any dash cam footage or CCTV, please get in touch as this could really help us with our investigation.”
