A 35-year-old woman from Hailsham has been convicted for indirectly allowing her household waste to be dumped on private land in the town.
Wealden District Council said it's after waste, including soiled nappies and dog faeces, was found dumped in Mill Road in August 2019.
The large pile of rubbish was discovered, and cleaned up, by the landowner.
On September 15 (2020), Hastings Magistrates ordered Tracey Puttick, of Halley Park, to pay a fine of £40, a victim surcharge of £32 along with £300 towards the authority's costs.
A spokesperson from the District Council said:
"She had failed to carry out the necessary Duty of Care to make sure her household rubbish was correctly disposed of by an approved waste carrier.
"She failed to attend Council appointments to give her the opportunity to provide an explanation as to how her waste came to be dumped at Mill Road.
"She also failed to attend Court appearances, causing further delay."
Councillor Roy Galley, Wealden Cabinet member with responsibility for Waste Management added:
"Everyone who produces rubbish, from tradesmen to householders, has a legal duty to make sure their rubbish is disposed of in the correct manner."
"If you are using someone else to take it away, you must only use registered Waste Carriers.
"We should all pay attention to this.
"Only by doing this will the amount of rubbish fly tipped in our beautiful District will be greatly reduced."
