Emergency services were called to the junction of Norton Road and Church Road in Hove yesterday evening (September 5).
It was following reports that a woman was staging a protest from the roof of the town hall.
East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service mobilised an aerial platform to attempt to carry the woman down.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said:
"Emergency services responded to a person on top of Hove Town Hall in Norton Road at 7pm on Tuesday.
"The person was safely escorted down from the roof after negotiations with officers.
"The area was cordoned off while police dealt with the incident."
